8th Pay Commission salary calculator (estimate)

Try a fitment factor of your choice on your current basic pay and see an estimated new basic pay. This is a projection, not an official figure.

An 8th Pay Commission calculator estimates a new basic pay by multiplying your 7th CPC basic pay by a fitment factor you choose. No 8th CPC factor has been announced; at the 7th CPC's 2.57, ₹18,000 would become ₹46,260.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter your current basic pay under the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC). You will find it on your pay slip.
  2. Choose a fitment factor. This is the number your basic pay is multiplied by. Try the example buttons, or any value from 1.5 to 3.0.
  3. If you like, enter a DA and HRA percentage for the new pay. These are your own guesses. Leave them at 0% to see basic pay only.
  4. Compare the result with your basic pay plus today's DA, shown in the result card.

How the estimate is worked out

New basic = B × F
DA = new basic × D ÷ 100
HRA = new basic × H ÷ 100

B
Your current basic pay under the 7th CPC.
F
The fitment factor you chose. No 8th CPC factor has been announced.
D
The DA percentage you entered for the new pay.
H
The HRA percentage you entered for the new pay.

The calculator simply multiplies. It does not round to a pay matrix cell, because no new pay matrix exists yet. The comparison line uses DA at 60%, the rate on 7th CPC pay from 1 January 2026 (Department of Expenditure OM, 22 April 2026).

Worked example

Your basic pay is ₹18,000, the minimum pay under the 7th CPC. You try a factor of 2.57, the factor the 7th CPC used. This is only an example, not an expected 8th CPC factor.

Basic now
₹18,000
Factor you chose
2.57
Estimated new basic
₹46,260

₹18,000 × 2.57 = ₹46,260. Today, the same person gets ₹18,000 + 60% DA = ₹28,800 in basic plus DA. Any DA or HRA on the new pay would be added on top, and you can enter your own guesses for those.

Scenarios: new basic at example factors

These factors come from press reports. None of them is official, and none is a forecast. The last column shows basic plus DA at 60% today, for comparison.

Basic now× 1.92× 2.28× 2.57× 2.86Basic + DA today
₹18,000₹34,560₹41,040₹46,260₹51,480₹28,800
₹30,000₹57,600₹68,400₹77,100₹85,800₹48,000
₹50,000₹96,000₹1,14,000₹1,28,500₹1,43,000₹80,000
₹1,00,000₹1,92,000₹2,28,000₹2,57,000₹2,86,000₹1,60,000

A higher factor raises the new basic in direct proportion. Whether your total pay goes up also depends on the DA and allowances on the new pay, which nobody knows yet.

8th Pay Commission FAQs

When will the 8th Pay Commission be implemented?

No date has been decided. The terms of reference say its effect "would normally be expected from 01.01.2026", which is an expectation, not a decision. The report is due within 18 months of the commission being constituted on 3 November 2025.

What is the 8th Pay Commission fitment factor?

No fitment factor is official. Figures such as 1.92, 2.28, 2.57 and 2.86 appear in press reports, but none has been announced. The 7th CPC used 2.57. Use the slider to see how different factors change the estimate.

What could the minimum pay become?

The minimum pay under the 7th CPC is ₹18,000. At an example factor of 2.28 it would be ₹41,040; at 2.57, ₹46,260. These are only arithmetic on example factors, not expected figures.

Will I get arrears?

That depends on the date of effect, which has not been decided. This calculator does not estimate arrears. Watch 8cpc.gov.in and PIB for official news.

What about pension?

This calculator covers basic pay only. Pension revision will depend on the commission's report and the government's decision, so it is not estimated here.

Why is the DA set to 0% by default?

DA on a new pay scale is not known. We don't guess it for you. Enter any DA and HRA percentage you want to try, and the result card adds them to the estimated new basic.

Is my data saved?

No. Everything is calculated in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us or stored. The only place your numbers go is the link you choose to copy or share.

This is an estimate, not official. The 8th Pay Commission has not made its recommendations, and no fitment factor, pay matrix or date of effect has been decided. For education only; not financial, tax or legal advice. Check official orders from your department.
