Which one should I use?
- Income tax calculator — compares your tax under the new and the old regime for FY 2026-27, and shows which one costs less.
- GST calculator — adds GST to a price or takes it out of a total. It uses the slabs in force since 22 September 2025: 0%, 5%, 18% and 40%, plus special rates of 3% for gold, silver and jewellery, 0.25% for rough diamonds and 1.5% for cut diamonds. The old 12% and 28% slabs no longer exist.
- HRA exemption calculator — works out how much of your house rent allowance is tax-free. This only matters under the old regime; HRA gives no exemption under the new regime. The 50% limit now covers eight cities: Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune and Ahmedabad.
Salaried and paying rent? Work out your HRA exemption first, then use the figure in the income tax calculator to compare the two regimes.
Running a business or shopping? The GST calculator gives you the CGST and SGST split for a sale in the same state, or IGST for a sale to another state.
